A recent Facebook post during President Trump’s visit to China caught my attention.
At a high-level dinner between the US 🇺🇸 and China 🇨🇳, one person stood out immediately.
Seated between Elon Musk and Tim Cook was Zhou Qunfei 周群飞 — founder of Lens Technology.
Not a politician.
Not a celebrity.
But a woman who rose from extreme poverty to become one of China’s richest self-made billionaires.
Zhou Qunfei was born in a small village in Hunan.
Her mother passed away when she was five years old, while her father became blind after a workplace accident.
The family lived in deep poverty.
At 16, she was forced to leave school because she could not afford tuition fees and travelled to Guangdong to work in factories.
By day, she worked grinding glass on assembly lines.
By night, she studied relentlessly — taking courses in accounting and computer operations.
After years of saving, she used 20,000 yuan to open a tiny workshop in Shenzhen together with relatives, producing watch glass.
She repaired machines herself.
Handled sales herself.
Worked tirelessly for years.
Then came the turning point.
As China’s mobile phone industry began booming in the early 2000s, her workshop secured orders for phone screens from TCL.

It may be 5 months late, but this story is still worth sharing.
Today, I had lunch with an old visiting student from Singapore.
We probably had not met for almost 3 years.
Many stories were exchanged just catching up…
But the most satisfying one, of course, was related to BaZi.
Many years ago, he was at a crossroads in his career.
Through BaZi analysis, I advised him to consider entering the field of Interior Design — despite having no formal education in it.
Some time ago, I came across an article draft I had written—but somehow never published.
Reading it again, I realised it carries an important lesson. So today, I am sharing it—not to judge, not to sensationalise, but purely for learning and awareness.
As a BaZi practitioner and teacher, my responsibility is to highlight patterns and lessons that can help others avoid similar situations.
This individual is a Wu (戊) Day Master—representing Yang Earth, often likened to a mountain: stable, solid, and enduring.

Shen Sha 神煞 can be loosely translated to God Destruction method or some calls it God Killing which for me is errorneous. Personally I would like to call it Gods and Evil Spirit method.
Let’s kick start with the favourable ones.
One of the best God is the Heavenly Nobleman or the Tian Yi Gui Ren 天乙貴人 that this star that can resolve many bad things. So how do we use this table?
For example, if you are a Jia 甲 day master and you have either Wei 未 or Chou 丑 inside your BaZi then you are said to have this Star of Heavenly Nobleman. Similary, for a Yi 乙 day master, having a Shen 申 or Zi 子 is said to be having this Star too and it goes on.
People with HN will be bless with nobleman to guide them or open opportunities for them.
Next best is the 文昌貴人 Wen Chang Nobleman or the Literacy Nobleman. This type of God brings intelligence, knowledgeable or great talents。
A Ji 己 day master having You 酉 some where in their BaZi for example.Coincidently, I have a client and she is a PhD student is a Ji day master with a year of You 酉 the chicken.
干祿 Gan Lu or the Stem Fortune or Heavenly Fortune that signifies a stable growth of prosperity and having a strong foundation for protection of wealth.
Any Wu 戊 day master made a fortune in 2025 of the Snake 巳 year?
The negative one would be the Goat Blade or Yang Blade 羊刃.
淵海子平 Yuan Hai Zi Ping classics particulary warns us of Yang Blade as it brings injury due to overly aggressive or rebellious nature of Yang Blade.
This type of negative evil is only meant for Yang day masters for some reason. Perhaps it is meant to say that Yang day master should not be overly brave or else they become reckless. A Ren 壬 day master having a Zi 子 rat will mean having Goat Blade.
I do have a client having this but I dont see him as being very brave nor reckless. But again in standard BaZi concept it rat would mean a Rob Wealth! 劫财
紅艷煞 or Red Beauty Star represents romance encounters that could lead to problems or lustful but in modern context can also mean good attraction to the opposite sex. It can also mean people who likes to visit red zones. People having this Evil can also behave with a cold and emotional nature.
This would mean a Bing 丙 day master having a Yin 寅 or tiger in the Bazi. Anyone of you ?
My Take
While I am not a fan of Shen Sha method, this method is however popular among folks especially during Chinese New Year period where many practitioners will entertain their audience with this method because it is simple and had good entertainment factors.
Some practitioners will also add this layer into their BaZi consultation. It burdens the student trying hard to understand the truth in Astrology system when they have to wade through so many layers of information and trying to figure out what is right and wrong.
Thus you will see many of these hanging around forums waiting for freeloaders to ask questions and they will test out on them the various theories as an exchange.

Why is it that when several BaZi masters gave her the same advice… it ended up damaging her career and life?
When I first reviewed her BaZi chart, I told her something very different. I explained that she had already enjoyed 20 years of strong career luck (two major luck cycles). However, once she entered the Xin Hai 辛亥 Luck Cycle, things would become much more challenging and her career momentum would likely decline.
She looked at me in shock and said, “You are the only sifu who told me this… and you are right.”
Before entering the Xin Hai Luck Cycle, her career was thriving. Opportunities came easily, and her bosses valued and supported her. Everything seemed to flow smoothly.
But in 2019, based on the advice of several previous BaZi readings, she resigned from her job. One consultant even warned her that she must resign before a certain month to avoid a possible life-threatening danger.
Trusting their advice, she did exactly that.
What followed was not the short break she expected. Instead, she struggled for six long years. She could not secure stable employment and survived only on short-term jobs until February 2026. Her savings were gradually drained, and the emotional toll nearly broke her.

Many masters are suggesting this will be a particularly fiery year, as Bing is Fire and the Horse also carries the Fire element. They further note that this coincides with the onset of Period 9 (九运), which is also associated with the Fire element.
Consequently, they warn that those whose BaZi charts are already strong in Fire must be very cautious.
What is the Master Alan’s view on this?
I got a question from my student’s friend when we bump into and over a coffee talk, he asked me this question “does manifesting work?”
Master Alan: “Why did you ask this question?”
Student’s Friend : “I have been trying but it seems it doesn’t work!”
“How long have you been trying?”
“For a couple of months and since most of my friends around me is doing this.
I was at an office in Cyberjaya and as my prediction on the premise was in the process and fell through the accuracy, then the client asked me if I can tell which month, the crisis happened.
They were being cheeky when the senior said, let he check and see if he is accurate.
I flip open the flying star chart and told them, September!. They were awed. This is the the strength of one system, the Wu Chang 9 Star Feng Shui system that is popular commercial name, known as Flying Star.
The previous master did not know why the business did not improved after the 2nd adjustment. Well, some people like to say Flying Star is not able to tell…that’s just a naughty marketing gimmick. They just never had the privilege to learn the authentic 9 Star system of Wu Chang.
