A recent Facebook post during President Trump’s visit to China caught my attention.
At a high-level dinner between the US 🇺🇸 and China 🇨🇳, one person stood out immediately.
Seated between Elon Musk and Tim Cook was Zhou Qunfei 周群飞 — founder of Lens Technology.
Not a politician.
Not a celebrity.
But a woman who rose from extreme poverty to become one of China’s richest self-made billionaires.

From Rural Poverty to Billionaire
Zhou Qunfei was born in a small village in Hunan.
Her mother passed away when she was five years old, while her father became blind after a workplace accident.
The family lived in deep poverty.
At 16, she was forced to leave school because she could not afford tuition fees and travelled to Guangdong to work in factories.
By day, she worked grinding glass on assembly lines.
By night, she studied relentlessly — taking courses in accounting and computer operations.
After years of saving, she used 20,000 yuan to open a tiny workshop in Shenzhen together with relatives, producing watch glass.
She repaired machines herself.
Handled sales herself.
Worked tirelessly for years.
Then came the turning point.
As China’s mobile phone industry began booming in the early 2000s, her workshop secured orders for phone screens from TCL.
Seeing the future potential, she founded Lens Technology.
Eventually, she secured a critical contract with Motorola for the iconic V3 phone — a project with extremely demanding quality standards.
She succeeded.
That success opened doors to Nokia, Samsung, and eventually Apple.
The Apple Turning Point
In 2007, Steve Jobs launched the first iPhone.
The all-glass touchscreen changed the entire mobile phone industry forever.
Apple’s manufacturing standards were famously brutal, but Zhou Qunfei recognised the opportunity immediately.
Working closely with Apple engineers, her company solved critical production challenges and successfully mass-produced the first-generation iPhone glass panels.
From that moment onward, Lens Technology became deeply integrated into Apple’s ecosystem, supplying glass components for iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks.
Today, Lens Technology is also heavily involved in:
- Tesla automotive components
- Smart vehicle cockpits
- Robotics sensors and joints
Which explains why she sat beside both Tim Cook and Elon Musk.
But Was It Purely Hard Work?
This story fascinated me because it raises an important question:
Was her success purely grit and hard work?
Or was there also an element of Destiny involved?
Most people agree that success is rarely caused by only one factor.
Hard work matters.
Timing matters.
Opportunities matter.
And from the perspective of BaZi, Destiny also matters.
Looking At Her BaZi
Based on the BaZi chart circulating online, this is clearly a strong and promising chart.

In BaZi terminology, a “good chart” does not simply mean wealth.
It means:
- fulfillment,
- opportunity,
- support from timing,
- and the ability to rise when opportunities appear.
Her natal chart already carried strong potential.
But the real power appeared when her Luck Cycles aligned.
Her Major Luck Cycle
After 2000, as the mobile phone industry expanded rapidly, she entered her Ding You 丁酉 Major Luck cycle around age 31.
Ding 丁 is one of her Useful Gods.
This period strengthened:
- authority,
- recognition,
- business consolidation,
- and growth potential.
The timing matched perfectly with the explosion of the mobile technology industry.
The 2007 Breakthrough
Then came 2007 — the year of Ding Hai 丁亥.
Again, another arrival of Ding 丁 energy, amplifying her favorable elements.
This was precisely the year Apple launched the first iPhone.
Once this alignment occurred, her growth became exponential.
This is what happens when:
- a strong natal chart,
- favorable Luck Cycles,
- and the right external opportunities
all converge together.
Life becomes spectacular.
Some Important Reflections
A good BaZi does not mean success falls from the sky.
Without effort, nothing happens.
But hard work alone is not always enough either.
Many people work hard their entire lives and still remain stuck in survival mode.
Why?
Because timing matters.
Luck matters.
Destiny matters.
This also raises another fascinating question:
If her BaZi was so good…
why were her early years filled with hardship?
That is where true BaZi understanding begins.
