Hour Pillar In BaZi

Determining the correct Hour to use in BaZi has been controversial for decades.

Sometimes lay man ask me aren’t all BaZi the same? Of course not! There are many controversies involved in the art of BaZi and hour pillar discussion is just one of them.

Maybe we can talk about Year, Month and Day pillars from different schools of BaZi next time.

This separates a high repeatability vs a low repeatability system and this is the greatest source of frustration for all BaZi students and enthusiast.

There are many different theories, so just let me list out some of the common ones and if you anything beyond this list, let us know, we will love to hear from you.

  1. Adjust to Beijing Hour
  2. Use Local Official Hour
  3. Compensate for Government adjusted Hour
  4. Use Local Solar Hour
  5. Adjust to Daylight time.
  6. Use Later and Early Rat Hour.

I am a very practical person, what every theory that one master forwards, surely he has his reasons behind.

Distorted Nature’s Way

Recently a student shared with me about some postings on forums and asked me if this is Nature’s Way of BaZi.

On a quick look, it seems so because it talks about how the Nature behaves but on closer examination, this is not consistent with our way of teaching.

History Of BaZi

Bazi has come a long way as early as 2003 when it was heavily promoted by a young chap. Back then it was the Strong Weak Day Master system. This system was very popular in Taiwan and Hong Kong back even before Bazi was popular here in Malaysia. It is also popularly known as Zi Ping system of Bazi.

Then some years passed by, this system seems to loss its favour among Bazi enthusiast and even some practitioners here. Along the same time, due to competition among Astrologers, the Blind-man sect came into the limelight here especially in Malaysia and Singapore. Blind-man was also very famous in Hong Kong back in the 70’s and 80’s.

I still remember they were heavily promoted in this famous forum called fivearts.net. If you know this place then you must followed the metaphysics world for quite a while. Then there were this Imperial Bazi school in Kuala Lumpur, it didn’t get famous but they claimed their knowledge came from the imperial astrologers. I still remember one of their clients came to see me when one of their key master “retired” out of the industry.

Learning The Right BaZi System

Most of the time when I tell clients or visitors that BaZi system has many schools, they all give me a common look on their face. The look of astonishment!

Photo by Mikhail Nilov on Pexels.com

There are the famous Strong Weak Day Master system, The Blind Man system, The Imperial Palace method and The Useful God system. Then within each of these systems there also many variations.

Our Nature’s Way of BaZi is part of Useful God system.

It has now become a general knowledge out there that there are many people teaching Bazi but will they all yield the same result if given the same chart? Before we touch on the chart, let’s ask the important question.

Is BaZi Accuracy Important?

Adjusted Birth Hour

This lady was asking why some teacher says she (Jia 甲 Day Master) was born in the Yin 寅 hour when her actual birth time is actually 05:17 hour which is supposed to be Mao 卯.

On what basis did the teacher changed or re-adjusted her hour of birth ?

I know there are many theories of Hour adjustment.

  1. Solar Hour
  2. Beijing Hour
  3. Local Hour
  4. Goverment Adjusted Hour
  5. Lunar calendar adjustment
  6. Early Rat / Late Rat system

Which one do you use ? Put in the comments below.

If you know of other systems, let us know below in the comments.

How do you verify which theory is correct?

  • Do you verify by the fame of the teacher ?
  • If he is famous, his theory must work correctly ?
  • If he is popular, his theory is sure to be correct ?
  • Have you seen the teacher in real life case reading (not pre-mediated type) ?
  • Have you seen his / here students performance ?
  • Have you seen a consistent trend in his reading accuracy ? Like say 8 out of 10 case accuracy ? (Anything below 6/10 is fluke shot and not real knowledge.)
  • Have you done more than 100 charts with above 60% accuracy using that method ?

Let me know how do you verify in the comments below…

Relationship Analysis – What it says about your marriage

If you would like to know more about your love life or relationship, look no further than your own Bazi destiny chart which is derived from your birth date and time.  It holds the key to finding Mr Right and Ms Right.  Or if you have already tied the knot, are you happily married or otherwise?  What does your Bazi destiny chart say?

Marriage Bazi

First, we look at the quality of the Spouse Star.  For a man, we look at the Wealth star as this represents the wife and girlfriends.  For a female, we look at the quality of the Influence/Power star as these stars represent the husband and boyfriends.  If the spouse star is of good quality and is favourable to the Day Master, we can conclude that he or she can easily find somebody, especially if the spouse star is located at the Stem next to the Day Master, or Day Branch, and the relationship will generally be good.

Secondly, the Spouse Palace plays a very important part in determining the relationship with the spouse.  If the “Useful God” or “Noble Element” is in the spouse palace, we can say that the person will receive support from his/her spouse and will get a lucky house when the time is right.  He/She will becomes lucky once married and will enjoy good marriage and the spouse will generally be good and supportive.  However, the Spouse Palace should NOT have clash or combination, otherwise there will be relationship problems.

The Stems, The Branches and The Hidden Stems

As we all know a Bazi chart comprises of 4 pillars.  Each pillar is derived from the Year, Month, Day and Hour of birth respectively.  And each pillar consists of Heavenly Stem, Earthly Branch and Hidden Stem as follows:-

So what are these Heavenly Stem, Earthly Branch and Hidden Stem represent?

The 10 Heavenly Stems (The Stems)

Based on the five elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water; and their Yin Yang factor comes the 10 Heavenly Stems of:-

Jia (Yang Wood-Tree) and Yi (Yin Wood-Flower)

Bing (Yang Fire-Sun) and Ding (Yin Fire-Candle Flame)

Wu (Yang Earth-Mountain) and Ji (Yin Earth-Soil)

Geng (Yang Metal-Iron) and Xin (Yin Metal-Gold)

Ren (Yang Water-Sea) and Gui (Yin Water-Rain)

The Stems represent the external perceptions of a person in life.  They are what the person project for people to see – his character, outlook, matters, events and relationships that are obvious.  Or you may call what “Heaven” gives to a person.  And it looks real to the outside world.  It is like a packaging, what people see on the outside and provides us a glimpse of what’s inside too.  The reality is, what’s outside (appearance) may not be exactly what’s inside (the real you).  Stems represent appearances and surface outlook.  It can also represent opportunities available.  A person may look, say, wealthy or hardworking, but is he really?  For example, there is a wealth element on the Stem but if that element is not rooted (meaning there is no wealth element in the Branches) or it is not supported by output element, he may look rich but in reality he is not.  At the best scenario, there is wealth opportunities for him but whether he makes it, is another story.

Peach Blossom Luck

What is Peach Blossom?  Peach Blossom are stars found in the animal signs of Rabbit, Horse, Rooster and Rat in a Bazi Chart.  Many single ladies would love to have Peach Blossom stars in the Bazi chart, as it represents opportunities to meet Mr Right.   These stars give the person the attractiveness that drawn people to them.  It has nothing to do with beauty in the woman or handsomeness in the man.  Even an average looking man or woman with Peach Blossom stars in their chart will attract or drawn people into their lives.  However, beware!  Peach Blossom stars can also bring along relationship problems, depending on whether these stars are favorable to you or otherwise.

According to the Classics, “When Officer bring along peach blossom, there will be blessing, happiness, prosperity and good fortune.”  The Classics also says, “Killing bring along peach blossom will be poor and lowly.”  So, what does they mean?  Let us explore further.

For example, if there is Direct Officer on the Month Stem and sits on Peach Blossom star, say Rabbit, in the Month Branch, this is Officer brings along a Peach Blossom.  Depending on which Day Master, the Peach Blossom star can denote another woman, in which case, this is a bad peach blossom.  But if the Peach Blossom does not represent another woman, then this could be a good Peach Blossom.  In this case, it can mean the man knows how to give in to his woman or knows how to take care of his woman.  It can also mean the woman knows how to give in to her man or knows how to take care of her man.

Below is a real life case study of bad peach blossom stars:-

This is a Female Xin Day Master.   She has three Peach Blossom stars in Horse, Rooster and Rabbit in Year, Month and Day Branch respectively.  Let us take a peep at all the three peach blossom stars and see what are inside these stars.

Her Direct Officer star in Year Stem is sitting on her peach blossom of Horse (7 Killings Star) in branch.  This means her husband star sits on her boyfriend star.  Or it can mean that her husband star sits on her “decision” since 7 Killing star represents decisiveness.  It thus translates into her husband will listen to her and she will make decision for him.  This is exactly the real life case.  Her first husband is under her control and she made all decisions and expected him to follow.  Her husband subsequently passed away, and later she met another man who became her second husband.

Her 7 Killings star in Month Stem is sitting on her peach blossom of Rooster.  Rooster (Friend Star)  represents another woman.  Thus her boyfriend star is sitting on her peach blossom star, another woman.   In real life, this lady’s second husband is already involved with another woman prior to their marriage and continue to do so even after marriage.  Subsequently, she divorced him.

Her 3rd peach blossom star of Rabbit sits on the Day Master.  When the peach blossom star is in the spouse palace, it means the relationship with the husband or boyfriend is generally good.  However, her spouse palace has a clash with her Friend Star in the month branch.  It can imply marriage problem and her man is involved with another woman or it can imply her man is a married man.  In real life, the 3rd man in her life is a married man but spends most of the time with her and is an opened and loving relationship.

So, now you understand more of peach blossom star, do you want it in your chart? That is why most Bazi experts say it’s better not to have too many peach blossom stars, particularly in a woman’s chart.  One good quality star is enough.

cheers

Auntie Rose

Obama vs Romney

As we all know, Obama just won the presidential election again.  While the topic of the presidential election is still hot, let us take a look at both the candidates’ Bazi chart and see what they say.  What makes Obama win and not Romney?  As the President of the United States, the person heralds great authority, status and position.  Hence, we shall evaluate the quality of the Power stars, i.e. the Direct Officer star and the 7 Killings star in their chart.

Obama

He is a strong Ji Day Master with Friend Structure, sitting on Si (Bing is one of Ji’s noble elements).  Hence his wife is of great help to him and a significant supporter.  His other noble element is Jia Wood (his Direct Officer star) and it is located at his Hour Pillar, indicating his career is good which can give him power and status.   And this Jia Wood is sitting on Wu, his Rob Wealth star.  Though Jia sitting on Wu is overall not an excellent pillar, it is nevertheless also not a poor pillar either, because Wood no matter what still needs Earth to be around for support.   His Year Stem of Xin (Eating God) is countering Yi (7 Killing) in the Month Stem.  This is being translated into the Day Master using his intelligence to control his power, as both stars are equally strong and of good quality, having roots respectively.

Obama won his first presidential election during his Xin Mao Pillar (Eating God-7 Killing Pillar).   This is the pillar of intelligence with power, having his 7 Killing star firmly rooted.   Due to the clash, it is an indication that this power doesn’t bring glory, but challenges and obstructions instead.

He is currently entering into a Geng Yin Pillar, where he again won the presidential election the second time around.  Once he entered this pillar, his Jia Wood (Direct Officer star) in his chart is being rooted and strong, giving him a strong foundation to hold on to his power.   Jia Wood is also his noble element and needs Geng Metal (Hurting Officer) to chop to make his Jia Wood useful and noble.  Hence, we can say that this pillar is in fact great for him, as compared to Xin Mao pillar.  This pillar will bring him great glory and much influence.

Romney

He is a weak Geng Day Master with Direct Wealth Structure, sitting on Yin (Jia Wood is Geng Metal’s favorable element), so we can conclude that his wife is quite supportive of him.  Unlike Obama whose noble elements are very close to him, Romney has no noble element in his Hour Pillar, his career palace.  His noble element of Ding Fire is in the Year Stem, and it is too far to ask for support, and is also involved in countering situation with Gui Water (Hurting Officer) in the Month Stem.  Direct Officer does not want to see Hurting Officer next to him as this compromised the quality of the Direct Officer, making it questionable.

His current luck pillar is Bing Shen (7 Killings-Friend Pillar).  With Bing Shen, his 7 Killings stars become rooted and strong, and the weak Geng Day Master also becomes rooted in Shen.   So, this may indicate potentiality for Romney to win as his power element is strong in this pillar as well.  But bear in mind, Geng Metal Day Master favors Ding Fire more than Bing Fire, as Geng Metal needs Ding Fire to forge to make it useful and noble.   With Bing Fire, it’s more likely the scorching Sun will burn the Geng Metal more than anything else, resulting in his loss.

The Results ?

Of course, in both charts, there are interactions of control, clash and combination going on in the luck pillar, and we will not go into details and elaborate on those.  Suffice to say, it is more likely the Noble Elements of the Power star determines the winner.   Obama has beautiful and usable Noble Element of Direct Officer in Jia Wood, which is also his Useful God; whereas Romney’s 7 Killing star in Bing Fire is not his Noble Element and also not usable to the Day Master.
