Hurting Officer A Trilogy

In the study of Bazi, one of the most common tool of reading is known as the 10 Gods. The 10 Gods represents certain relationship between others and us. Of course in the lingo of Bazi, us equates to the Day Master.

Hurting Officer is one of the most talked about in the reading of 10 Gods in Bazi.  Hurting Officer is the classified as Output of the Day Master but with a Different Polarity. Output here simply means the element produced by the Day Master while polarity means Yin – Yang Polarity.

Thus if a person is born as a Jia 甲 Day Master, Hurting officer is represented by the element Ding 丁.

HURTING OFFICER (伤官)

Hurting officer (HO) is given the term is probably due to the reason this element hurts the Officer (官). Guan 官 in Chinese language usually means someone of authority or an executioner of a law or law enforcement officer or minister or in short a public officer etc. If you see the chart below, the Hurting Officer actually controls the Officer.

So if I use an example of a Ren Day Master, The HO will be represented by Yi wood. The Officer is by definition the element that controls the Day Master. Thus in this case it is the Earth element represented by Wu and Ji.

Day Master! Who is he ?

We study Bazi in an attempt to understand our lives, our strengths and weaknesses. We also want to know what’s installed for us in the coming years, what potential sickness we may develop, will our children be filial to us, what career choice is a better choice and so on.

 LKS_BAZI

The Chart is nothing but just a way we represent our date and time of birth in Chinese calendar format. However, before can we start interpreting a chart, we need to first identify one very important character in this chart. It’s called the Day Master. Why is it called the Day Master? Encounter the 10 Gods in Module 2

In the recent concluded Module 2 class, our graduates have braved through the challenge of Encountering the 10 Gods.

The 10 Gods syllabus from Destiny Empire is profound and in depth and you can read our student’s Testimonial.

10 Gods or Shi Shen (十神) in Mandarin refers to the 10 Heavenly Stems that wears the 10 different Hats.

To find out the relationship between the 10 Gods, you will need to understand 2 fundamental concepts and that is Yin & Yang and The Production and Control Cycles.

In our earlier articles, we have explained the concept of Yin & Yang in the 10 Heavenly Stems. Example, for Wood the Tree or Jia will be the Yang Wood while Yi or the Flower is the Yin Wood.

Here is the table of the Production and Control Cycles.

The Solid lines represents Production Cycles while the broken lines represents the Control Relationship.  Let me illustrate using the Wood again as the example.  Wood produces Fire but Wood is being Controlled by Metal.  Wood in return will control the Earth.  Wood is being produced by Water.

Understanding these 2 concepts is vital in the study of Metaphysics in particular Bazi and 10 Gods.  How is the 10 gods derived?

For Example if you are the Jia (Tree) Day Master, If Jia (甲) sees another Jia, he sees a friend;  If he sees a Yi, he sees a Rob Wealth;  If he produces the same polarity, he sees Eating God and if he produces the opposite polarity, then he is seeing a Hurting Officer.  When  Jia controls the same sex, he encounters Indirect Wealth but if he controls the opposite sex, he encounters Direct wealth.  When Jia is being control by the same polarity element, Jia sees 7 Killing and control from opposite sex sees Direct Officer.  Jia being produced water of the same sex, Jia is said to be produced by Indirect Resource while water from the opposite sex is Direct Resource.  The same rules applies to all the other 9 Heavenly Stems.

Their influence in a person’s Bazi or 4 Pillar is when a structure is being formed.

Next, why does one need to understand the 10 Gods? Who are they? What do they represent? …Stay tuned for more.

Fire Day Master

Bing Day Master (The Sun)

If you are a Bing (Yang Fire) day master, imagine the Sun energy.  This is big and active fire, and channelling warmth across earth and all things.  A Bing day master thus radiates warmth and radiance, and is vibrant, vivacious and sunny in disposition.

This is a person who is open, frank, generous and full of warmth, passion and enthusiasm. honest, passionate and upright.  Bing people are generally cheerful and well-liked by others.  They have leadership capabilities and will not stop until they attain their goals.

Like the Sun, Bing day masters are big-hearted and of striking personality.  They are not only amicable and lenient, but also very energetic, show enthusiasm and interest in all things, and will actively hands-on in action.  They like to do big things.

However they also have big ego and pride.  Just like the Sun, day in and day out, it does the same thing.  Hence, Bing people very often are routined oriented and easily become complacent and get stuck in one way.

As Bing people are dynamic in nature, since the Sun looking across the earth, can create benefits as well as unhealthy or harmful reactions especially scorching hot when one gets too near, they play both the good and the bad roles in their lives.  They can be impatience and have a tendency to waste.  Also prone to mood swings every now and then.  Sometimes they can be conceited and sometimes they have a merciful heart.  So friends tend to come and go.

Bing characteristics will defer according to their overall Bazi chart and will depending greatly on what time the person is born.  Are you born day time or night?

Ding Day Master (Fire Flame)

Ding (Yin Fire) or Fire Flame character are of softer and milder disposition.  Like a candle, even though small but still gives out warmth.  Ding day masters are quiet, warm and unhurried. Their endurance and tolerance level are very high which is opposite of Bing (Sun) people.  They are conservative, courteous and passionate.

Ding people’s contemplation is profound, their behaviour is careful and cautious. Their thinking is like a careful vanguard, planning every matter to completion.  This is like the nature of a small fire, from ignition it burns anything until it turns into ashes.  They can be likened to a fire burning slowly, sacrificing oneself to bring warmth to those near them.  Hence, Ding people will tend to be very close to those who, they know very well.

Fire Flame character are illuminating in nature, hence they are born leaders, a person who takes pride in showing people the way.   They are great motivator but are easily demotivated as well.   Like the candle flame, they can also be very fickle, swaying according to the wind.

Candle fire flame is only brightest at night, so those who are born at night will generally have good achievement.  They will be useful to society and attract attention easily.  If you are born in the morning or day, the person will not be so illuminating.  In a way, Ding peaks in performance when the sun loses its radiance.  As such, Ding comes handy at night.

Yi Day Master (Yin Wood – Flower Character)

Yi Day Master (Yin Wood)

To understand Yi (Yin Wood) is to understand Flower character.  Yi (Yin Wood) are soft wood in nature.  Like a small plant growing softly and gently and emerging as a beautiful and gorgeous flower, Yi people are mild and expressive.  They like to seek improvement and development in one’s own environment.

As in a small plant or flower, Yi day master reacts and responds sensitively to small changes of conditions.  From here, we can see that Yi people are quick-witted and are able to adapt quickly to any change in circumstances which is the opposite of Jia day master which is hard wood in nature.

Like a little flower, they may appear weak but can still grow well in a harsh environment.  In a typhoon, the small plants will sway and move in the direction of the wind.  Hence, Yi day master will not wither easily even though trodden as long as their roots are still intact.  As a result, we can say that Yi people are not only very flexible and adaptable, but they are also very realistic and will always ‘find’ their way in life, i.e. they are survivalist in nature.

Shortcomings are that they are very dependent on others.  They can be fickle, change mind quickly and do not stick to one course of action.  They can be swayed by temptations and may be deceived or misled by others easily.

As in a small flower, Yi people require Sunlight (Bing-Yang Fire) to bloom, and they also like Water (Gui-Yin Water), such as dew and rain where water is most gentle.  If there is no Sun and Dew, then they will twirl on Trees (Jia-Yang Wood) to reach out for the Sun so that they can bloom and earn our attention.

If you are a Jia Day Master, you have qualities of a Tree.  Imagine what a Big Tall Tree looks like.  Its trunk, branches and leaves will extend themselves to reach out to sunlight for growth while its roots will stay firmly in the ground.  In this way, Jia Day Masters characteristics are such that they will exert themselves to plan and develop in order to move upward from their current situation.

They are steady, strong and upright and have strong will-powered, and will not be easily swayed.  They are very direct and out-spoken people and will say whats on their mind, not knowing they may hurt people by their directness and bluntness.  They may appeared as unfeeling, not because they are heartless but because they do not tune to what is going around them.
